Helping girls today become the women leaders of tomorrow
This guest post was submitted by Amy Phillips of the Girl Scouts.
In today’s society, there is an emphasis put on girls to succeed and “be all that they can be”—an emphasis that was not there years ago. New programs start everyday to encourage girls to pursue their dreams and provide them with a helping hand on their way to changing the world. However, the problem is that girls are discouraged by outside influences or are simply not informed of these organizations.
I know from experience that I sometimes have to look very hard to find the guidance that I am seeking. The Women’s Campaign Forum is one of these unique groups that strives to make sure that women are given the opportunity to make their mark, achieve all they can, and make a difference in their society. Participation and support keeps them alive.
We all complain about the issues in our community, but how many of us really take a stand for change? Actions really do speak louder than words! Supporting WCF is one way that we can make our words into very strong actions for the good. I’m new to the group, but it took me no time to realize what a truly remarkable thing it is. WCF is full of intelligent, open, informative, and respectful people who are ready to help. Sam is amazing! She is an inspiration to girls like me and to anyone who meets her.
I want my voice to be heard someday, and I know that through the help of the Women’s Campaign Forum, it will be. This organization prepares girls like me for success. I was amazed to see that they have a MySpace and Facebook—these are programs that me and my friends use everyday! WCF understands how to communicate and reach out to my generation.
I challenge you to make a difference. Your participation will not only make a difference now, but also in the future for others, like myself. Run, donate, or support—don’t silence the women of today or tomorrow.

[...] Across the country, the GOP is facing a serious crisis in its number of women in state legislatures. Some within the party have expressed concern that this gap will cause a serious lapse of women on the national party stage, since state legislatures are where they typically are trained. Out of 50 states, there are just six female governors as of this week. And Congress is just 17% female. [...]
